“There’s a time when a man needs to fight and a time when he needs to accept that his destiny’s lost, the ship has sailed and that only a fool will continue. The truth is I’ve always been a fool” (Edward Bloom). Edward Bloom was a man that lived in a fantasy world. His stories were exaggerated to the point they became a fantasy. He hyperbolize the stories not to lie, but to escape the boring reality of life. In that way I am like him; I tend to have my own Wonderland, where I go to escape the monotonous pattern of my existence. Edward Bloom and I are not only alike in the fact that we both have a dreamland, but also in that he never gave up, even if it seemed to be the only reasonable choice. I have lots of dreams, some seem impossible, yet I keep trying, just like Edward Blood would have. At the same time, Edward Bloom and I are very dissimilar. Sometimes I just have to escape from the reality of the world, so I go to my Wonderland. Edward Bloom seems to aggrandize his adventures by mixing them with his dreams. He creates tall tales that he wish would be real; I create stories in my mind that I wish I was living. In the end, Edward lived the life he loved, through his imagination and through the real world. I hope to have enjoyed my life as much as he did. He never gave up, and I like to think that we are alike in that aspect too. Although it may not seemed like much, I have continued my education. I am the first in my family to go to college. Even though I got stressed when I was applying to colleges due to not knowing what to do, I still figure it out. Edward Bloom faced difficulties throughout his life, yet he still fought for what he thought was right or for what he wanted.
