Malcolm X once said, “Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today” (Malcolm X Quotes). Education is very important in life. The passport of one’s life is education. It can take someone anywhere. There is an increased number of schools moving away from a five day school week, especially in rural towns because it will benefit the students. The school days would be a few hours longer to make up for the day that the students would not being going. There is a study that students who go to school less than five days received higher test scores. Students can become overwhelmed with homework, other activities and even things at home. If the student was younger than a high school age, the parents or guardians could use the day to bond with the child, take him or her to a doctors appointment, or a variety of other things. Students can become more prepared for college while being in school for four days. College classes do not occur everyday of the week, it depends on the classes the student takes. College is short like a four day school week would be. This would benefit the students and could also help the students who are in high school choose a college they would like to attend. He or she could take the day off and tour different colleges and ask questions. A four day school week would benefit students academically and prepare them for college.
Less time in school causes students to achieve more. Schools should switch to a four day school week because it will benefit the students. “This improvement increased over time, with an average of 72 percent of students scoring "proficient or advanced" on their maths tests two years after they’d switched to a four-day school week” (MacDonald). The student would not only have more class time in a mathematics class, but others such as English or social studies. Certain people will attend college after high school and this school week will benefit the students
