In higher education the article Peter Katopes mention that the business model eliminates other worthy academics programs because it was not as popular as other programs. Since the business model focuses on the student’s satisfaction and not the teachers teaching abilities it gives the students more power on their opinions of the teacher. For example, a teacher may be a good teacher at teaching in class but since the student does not pay attention and failed, the student may give a poor evaluation about the teacher. He states how the universities run off of a “Business Model”. That is because a University is a business, it is a business which focuses on raising and preparing the next generation going into the work force. Due to this colleges and universities need to have evaluations of their students, primarily because the Dean of the college or university is not omnipresent. He or she cannot be in every classroom every day all the time. With the student evaluations, the students already paid to get into the university. It was not given to them, like it is in other countries. The students paid to attend the college or university, they need and should know which professors would help them achieve their goals according to their way of learning. This is why student evaluations are important, it shows which professors are underachieving and which are performing exponentially. Although there is an ever present threat of a student writing a bad review, if the majority of the class is writing great reviews, it will show if that student was actually slacking in the class. The student that attend Universities and colleges pay to attend, they deserve to have some accommodations, especially if they will be literally living there the majority of the year, such as a game room, food that is actually good instead of High School cafeteria food.
