From a young age I have wanted to protect people even to the extent of giving my life. When people ask me why I want to join law enforcement, my response is, “I have had times in my life that I need someone to protect me, yet no one was there to do so, and I do not want anyone to have to go through what I had to.” I believe I would be successful because I have the drive and determination that is crucial to being successful in the field of law enforcement. I have also taken part in the Explorers Program; a program created for those who have interest on law enforcement but do not meet the age requirement to do so and are taught by law enforcement officers about the profession until they are of age to join law enforcement. The Explorers Program quickly separates fact from fiction, what you see on TV and actuality, by education young citizens about the judicial system and law enforcement and pushes individuals to see if law enforcement is their true passion. My MBTI scores came back as ESTJ which is a 100% match for protective service: Firefighter, correctional officer, security guard, police officer. And according to my Strong Interest Inventory, my number one interest area is that of Protective Services with a 75% match. This career that will grow in demand due to those who break the law. While this career is in high demand, it is also dangerous and unpredictable. The salary is generous, offering about $50,000 on average. Most departments require at least high school education and require applicants to graduate from their training academies.
