Education is a word everyone knows, education in a sense runs the world. The true definition of education is the transmission of society’s norms, values and knowledge base by means of direct instruction. Formal education is an education that occurs in institutions such as elementary school or colleges. Mass education is the extension of formal schooling for wide segments of population. School is a right every single person has weather rich or poor an education is provided to everyone. In the 18th century they decide the people needed to have more literacy which is the ability to read and write at a basic level. I found this to be sad and very interesting , I do agree that this is probably happing I know many people who either don’t want to go to school because they’re afraid to be in debt or people who are upset that they went to school and will have a debt to pay till there in their 40s . Journalist David Leonhardt wrote that the much of the system is failing and this is something I absolutely agree with. I personally feel that the education system has definally took a wrong turn in the past few years. I feel that we are no longer trying to teach our children anything other than how to pass a test. I always knew that Hispanic have dropped out but I never realized the percentage. I think as a community we should be able to find a solution to all minorities to help them not drop out.
Something else that I found to be very important is that in Africa more than 45,000 teachers in Tanzania died due to HIV/AIDS. 45,000 is a very large amount and I found it shocking that something like this is occurring. It’s not only taking lives but also taking education from many students.

While reading chapter 12 I felt very informed and felt that I could relate to the chapter. Implications for children
I think one implaction chapter 12 has for children is to think about how they are being taugh if theu chose to one day be teavhers or even just as student they should be aware of how the system is . Take notice wheather they are really teavhing or being teavh as opposed to just being taugh how to pass a test.
