I believe that the purpose of education is to prepare students for higher education so they can succeed later in life. To help students achieve this, it is necessary to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to make it further with their education and achieve their goals. According to Oakes and Lipton (2003), education insures equality of opportunity. In my opinion every child has the ability to become anything they want to be when they grow up, and it takes a good teacher to help a student mold himself or herself into that character that they want to be. Education allows and guides children to develop their passions and critical thinking.

I think that the Common Core Standards are a tool to focus on what students are expected to learn. Bransford, Darling- Hammond, and Lepage (2005) stated that not only do teachers need to be able to keep order and provide useful information to students, they also need to be effective in enabling a diverse group of students to learn more complex material and develop a wider range of skills. Students have an innate motivation to learn as long as they are doing things that have personal meaning and importance. Various subjects should be taught in a creative way were students different gifts and abilities are use to engage them in different activities. Math and physical education should be integrated in school in a way that the students do activities that can enhance their learning. For example, math can be related to the activities students do in the real world everyday. Physical activity in the schools should be taught with positive reinforcement so the students can get engaged. These subjects are essential because they involve learning life skills that the students will carry on with
