Every advantage given to our young children today in their early education is vital for future economic success. Daniel Rose stated it best at a luncheon in a Memphis school on a report released by The Committee for Economic Development when he said, "The world 's most successful economies are those with the best educated workers, we can provide quality early education programs to all American children, we will see returns in our children, our economy, and our society, for years to come" (BIZ Journal News). Looking around in schoolyards and playgrounds are young, happy children playing and laughing. Enjoying learning how to ride bikes, playing with dolls, and wadding in kiddie-pools. These kids are our future teachers, managers, doctors, lawyers, retailers, the back bone of our future economy. Starting children with a beneficial pre-kindergarten program will promote and benefit a countries economy.
In the United States 1965 began the Head Start program and eventually by 2005 over 38 states offered a state funded pre-school program. As of 2002 sixty-six percent of the children in the United States were enrolled (Child Development, 2008).
