Introduction
Education has been the foundation of society for thousands of years, inspiring millions of learners that are bound to become fundamental in the future. Ever since I learned the true impact of learning, whether through school or experiences, I have grown to have immense respect for those willing to teach others and also those willing to learn. When it comes to the importance of education, many of the most prominent figures that have walked this Earth recognized its capabilities, and the impact it can have on society. For instance, Nelson Mandela commented on its importance by stating that- “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. By hearing this statement and the many other comments made, I’ve

As a student, I understand that there are multiple different types of learners, and this will be a challenge when it comes to the types of instruction I wish to pursue. However, some of the standards that I could master upon entering the profession would be that of standards Two, Five, Six, and Seven. Standard Two is unique when compared to the others, stating that “teachers know and understand the content area for which they have instructional responsibility” (Ohio Department of Education, 2013). Before officially becoming a teacher, It is my goal to make sure that I have a sufficient understanding of the topic that I would be teaching. In order to do this, I have taken extra time outside the classroom to gain the opportunity to learn more about the subject of social studies. By doing so, I will be better prepared when it comes to understanding the content that would be taught in the activities, lessons, etc. When it comes to Standards Five and Seven, these two closely related as they both promote a learning environment that is fair, safe, and productive for the students by making sure the teacher follows the ethics and legal guidelines of teaching (Ohio Department of Education, 2013). Again, I find these two possibly being easier to overcome, and could find myself quickly following these guidelines right …show more content…
I believe this will be one of the most difficult tasks to conduct while teaching, but also one of the most rewarding. Depending on the grade level, the type of instruction that I choose to teach would have to be effective, and also useful in the long run for the students. It is one thing to relay information that is expected to be taught, but it is something else to find meaning in what I would be teaching, and make it worth learning for the students. Of the readings, discussions, and videos that we have participated in during class, I found that a quote given by Sir Ken Robinson in his “The Art of Teaching” being the most influential. Early on in the short clip, Robinson made the comment saying that “the way to get people to learn, is by connecting it to the learners interest, to what motivates them, what energies them, what excites them, what engages their imagination.” This quote truly represents why people strive to learn more in life, and how to teachers should spark the interest of the learners. As a teacher I would find it fundamental in my teaching habits to make my lesson plans interesting, and engage the learners to ask questions about what they are learning. Obviously each student does not express the same amount of interest for each subject, but I would like to have my students

Education is a powerful tool that can help create useful members of our society by enabling them to think critically. However, despite its great opportunities, Martin Luther KIng Jr. has shown us that education is often used to create a hierarchy among these members. The highly educated see themselves as superior beings when compared to the less educated, lower class, which keeps them from seeing its true purpose. According to Martin Luther King Jr. education should teach one to think in a comprehensive manner that will enable them to distinguish the right from the wrong. Transcendentalism Argument According to Nelson Mandela, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”. This outlook starkly juxtaposes the transcendental view expressed by Ralph Waldo Emerson, that “A man should learn to detect and watch that gleam of light which flashes across his mind from within, more than the lustre of the firmament of bards and sages”. The root of this issue is deducing which of them is correct.…

Before collecting artifacts and preparing for the mock evaluation, I was completely lost. I started looking at the standards in the beginning of my placement to prepare and I kept thinking to myself, “where do I even start and I am not sure on what to do to fulfill the standards.” Once I started full on teaching and talked with Kourtni the standards became a lot clearer and I noticed that I was fulfilling these standards when I didn’t even know I was doing so. The first standard, enhance academic performance, implementation of achievement goals, was one standard that I had quite a few artifacts to share with Mr. Mowes. This standard involves teachers using different concepts and perspectives to help learners solve problems and this is definitely what I was working towards when creating my study. I wanted to use different concepts, such as Bloom’s Taxonomy, and integrate them into how I was going to observe and collect data from the students. Standard #6, Assessment, where teachers have to understand how to use different methods of assessments was also frequently addressed throughout this assignment. When deciding how I was going to collect data from the students to be able to access their learning, I found student journals to be a good option. While I’ll be collecting their assignments and assessments, I thought it would be fair to the students to have another way of understanding if they enjoyed the technology or…

It is a right of children that must be respected; no child should be denied it and the opportunity to complete (UNICEF, 2004).It is therefore; educators have societal responsibility to make the provision of education to all people based on their diversified individual’s needs and ability (Okech, 1993). Among the different approaches to education, inclusive education is enabling all children to learn and participate effectively within school systems. It means that students with special needs are provided with specialized education in age-appropriate regular classes according to their special educational needs (Forman, 2002). Inclusive education is all about welcoming all children, without discrimination into regular schools.…
