The purpose of education is the gathering of knowledge not only to cultivate the human mind with values and principles but help to differentiate between right and wrong. It is often asked what the purpose of education is but rarely is it thought why it is so important for each individually. As society matures they become more aware of the importance of education and how it relates to world around them. As they experience difficulties and hardships in their personal and professional lives they begin to understand even more the importance of education. Understanding that education is of importance is only the first step. There is much to be determined before starting a college education, what career path to take, is it a forced decision, and what learning style best fits each individual should all be answered before making the life commitment. Students are frequently forced into college by their parents or by the school system rather than having the desire to continue their education on their own. Are they a more hands on learner or do they obtain the information from books and literature? At this point a good look at the college/institution could be vital to success. If an individual needs the hands on experience to learn the material, an online institution may not be their best choice. Also, a lot of skills may be taught once on the job, how the individuals adapt to new tasks and stress is a consideration. Often times many of the day to day tasks will be learned once on the job due to the fact that each organization will have their own set of SOP 's (Standard Operating Procedures).
