There has always been symptoms of ADD and ADHD; however, the harshness associated with education prior to that of the today’s world made it less noticeable. The structure of the previous learning system is what took what would become called ADHD until 1907 to be recognized; and further, until the 1960s for the disorder to formally become recognized as a mental disorder (Holland). Students with ADD and ADHD create many new troubles for teachers. Students with ADD and ADHD often suffer five big symptoms: distractibility, uncontrolled interrupting, impulsivity, fidgeting and hyperactivity, and trouble following directions (Segal).
