February 12, 2017 In the 1940 days Britain had just got out of war with the Nazi's. It was proposed that the existing differentiation between elementary and secondary education should be gone and instead there should be three stages of education. Which was primary, secondary, and so on. School is required by law in England. Children between 5 and 16 years of age must attend school.The british school system in the 1940s and 50s is an interesting topic because it was a different time, there was plenty of bullying, and there were different rules. The school year runs from September to July and is divided into three terms.The school year is 39 weeks long and is divided into six terms.Children's education in England is normally divided into two separate stages.Schooling in England usually begins with primary education at the age of five and this usually lasts until they are eleven. …show more content…
In reality it’s to supervise the lunch line and stopping the younger kids from hitting each other.There were also problems in the 1950s like bullying and physical punishment. This was just accepted and treated as normal. In primary school an elderly lady teacher threatened to take a boys trousers down and give him a good spanking because he was crying. He stopped crying because he did not want an elderly lady taking his trousers off. Even teachers were bullies back in the 1950s. During the 1950s children were regularly attacked in the streets or in the playground by bullies and in the classroom by the teachers. In general, in the 19th century, although the term bullying was not mentioned, the pattern of it has been described as violence in everyday life.
