According to Indira Gandhi, the first woman to be elected Prime Minister in India, “Education is a liberating force, and in our age it is also a democratizing force, cutting across the barriers of caste and class, smoothing out inequalities imposed by birth and other circumstances.” As a person whose life has spanned across Kuwait, India, Chicago, and now Colorado, I have personally experienced how education has improved the lives of individuals and communities. Conversely, I have observed how the lack of education and access for it have blocked the advancement opportunities of individuals, families, and communities. I was born and raised in Kuwait and completed my elementary and middle school education there. Unfortunately, Kuwaiti government …show more content…
While working at the Arlington Heights Memorial Library, I was a key participant of the library strategy team that led the planning to increase the utilization of library and its various resources. The experience exhibited my leadership and communication skills and put into play my team building and teaching skills while reinforcing my analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Based on customer feedback and attendance the implemented project was a success and well received as a valuable program for the customers. My desire for continuous improvement of self and the community around me piqued my interest in eLearning. The eLearning program will help me implement eLearning solutions, strategies, and trends to become a more effective and innovative leader who will influence and implement progressive educational opportunities in my career and my extended network such as NGOs to serve the learning needs on a global scale even for the underserved communities in India, Kuwait, and other …show more content…

I plan to be an educator, trainer, and leader in a not for profit, NGO or organization that facilitates education globally. Also, I plan to use my knowledge from the program to integrate learning with computing environments to create more interactive learning systems. Furthermore, I plan to be involved in opportunities that cater to the underserved, such as learners with disabilities, those with language barriers and older adults that are underproductive because of their limited skills. ELearning drives socio-economic progress by providing opportunities for where and when one can learn, and continue to smooth out inequalities imposed by birth and other

This is unfortunate because the individuals at the center of the book acknowledged that education is one of the only avenues out of the conditions they live in. One of the main characters, Asha, can be characterized as a “slum boss,” and is also the head of and teacher at a “bridge” school that is funded through a foreign aid organization. The funding for this school comes from an outside aid organization because “spreading educational opportunity was not among the Indian government’s strong suits” (Boo 13). Asha never taught the classes herself, rather she instructed her daughter, Manju, to teach only on the select days when supervisors were attending the class session to monitor and evaluate progress. Instead of spending the funds allocated by the foreign aid organization on the school, Asha took the money in order to fund Manju’s college education in hopes of her education eventually opening a door to upward social mobility for the family.…

It is with great pleasure that I submit an application for the Marketing Growth Analyst position offered by Ampush. I learned about Ampush from personal research and became interested in your company’s unique approach to marketing strategy and campaigns. When I first learned of Ampush, I was immediately taken by your mission to cater an individual advertising experience for each one of your company partners rather than trying to find a one-size-fits-all strategy for every single project. Ampush’s focus on instead developing strategies that target the individual needs of each project resonates strongly with my experiences in the arts at Williams. With each theatrical production I worked on, I was encouraged to analyze and understand the show…

In the past four years, I have had many experiences with family, friends and an extreme amount of clubs, activities, and home life occasions I am involved in. But in all honesty sports have taught me a lot about people, life and even myself. I have been a part of many teams in my lifetime and played several abstract sports, but at Summit Academy High School the sports are very unique. There are mixed attitudes towards the teams, players and coaches that you would not see at any other school. But I like to call them obstacles and challenges.…

Social class is a major determining factor of accomplishment in most educational, employment and social arenas. Social class is currently still one of the best predictors of who will achieve success, prosperity and social status, yet class is difficult to define and discern/distinguish. As of today I continue to be an EOP freshman who is the first from my family to attend college and the first to be on the right path of obtaining a bachelor’s degree. To be honest, I am proud to be an EOP student at CSUN not because they give me a small amount of money but because I like the idea of knowing that I am representing the impossible. As you know, people like me are not meant to go to college or even finish high school. Those basic assumptions are made based on our families’ social class or ethnicity. I know we all come from low income families that know nothing about college and who’s kids only grow up to learn that they must start working to help their families economically.…

    Desegregation In Education

Having a formal education is one of the greatest contributors to individual empowerment. Education is the gateway in which the majority of people find professional success. We are taught that if we do well in school then more options will be available to us later in life. However, I have concluded that the American school system does not empower its students that come from low social backgrounds or specific minorities as evident in Jonathan Kozol and Jean Anyon’s essays on education. Brown vs Board was a historic decision in American history that reversed the claim made in Plessy vs Ferguson that “separate is equal”.…

Most religious organizations have been unequivocally dominated by men for hundreds of years. Historically, Muslim society is significantly gender based in that it makes blatant distinctions between the roles of women and men in both religious and societal aspects. Men are regarded as the caretakers and heads of their household while women are expected to be obedient wives and mothers taking domain of the family environment. More contemporary Muslims are torn between upholding the principles on which their religion was founded, and the current shift toward feminism in Western culture.…
