Education Care Practicum Objectives

Accomplishing a short term or long term goal in life can be very rewarding. It makes you feel as if you are one step closer to the ideal life you have planned for yourself. At the beginning of the ECCE 1121 Early Childhood and Education Care Practicum course at the Savannah Technical College, the class was given the assignment to identify and submit three objectives that I wanted to accomplish this term during the Practicum class. At the end of the term, we would have the task of writing a self-evaluation on how well we feel did in accomplishing these objectives.
The three objectives I identified at the beginning of the term were:
1. gain knowledge about the proper way to educate children in an early child care setting from the assignments

Each week the class had to develop a checklist of 10 items or activities that we would use to evaluate the developmental appropriateness of an environment for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and primary-aged children. An example on how to complete the assignment was provided for us using the infant group. For the first three weeks, five of the things on the list had to be related to the physical set up or management of the environment and five related to physical (gross motor and fine motor) development for the toddler, preschool, and primary-aged children group. We also had to explain why we chose each of the ten items or activities and why would we expect to see them in a developmentally appropriate environment for this age group? For the weeks that followed, we had to develop a list and answer the question for the infant, toddler, preschooler, and primary-aged children groups covering their social/emotional and cognitive/language/literacy development. To complete the essay questions, I had to really research, think about, and dig deep, because each area required different items to work at different stages in the child’s life. But as result of the grades and feedback give on my assignments, I can say I accomplished this goal very …show more content…
For the Spring 2016-2017 semester course, the class had to select an early child care facility to get cleared to complete their hours. Although the majority of the people in the class worked in a child care setting and could easily obtain the hours in one week, the hours had to spread out over a fourteen-week period of time. Although I was already working in a child care facility before I started this course the assignments required made me view how I view, interact, and engage with the children on a daily basis. I found it really interesting to have two children in my class that had special needs that required one of them to be visited at the center by a physical therapist once a week and the other child to be visited by a physical and occupational therapist each week. I found this to be interesting because they had an entirely different way of developing, learning, and response for me to observe. I believe I did well with accomplishing this

I learned a lot from this OIR that will affect my future teaching career hopefully in a better approach. I learned that some children develop slower than others and some develop quicker. All children achieve milestones at different times in their lives. Seeing that some children need a little extra help (guidance in independence and taking responsibility) and some children don’t, show that when I’m a teacher, I’m going to have to accommodate to these children’s needs as much as possible. I also learned that some children need more time than others to develop.…

What I have learned through this assignment is that I need to plan on more questions being asked so that I can time better my lesson to the short periods as Sleep Giant Middle School. I also need to take into account that my CT likes to use worksheets as Summative assessments instead of Formative and I plan for that section of the class to take longer than expect therefore, I can’t lag in the beginning of my lesson otherwise I will not be able to have the students finish the activity making it that they need to take the worksheet home with that as homework which I really don’t want to do if at all possible. I also noticed that she doesn’t have fixed classroom management strategies which is both good and bad. This will allow me to try out different…

Intervention Plan for Reducing Childhood Obesity The life course theory hypothesizes that adult chronic disease shows the overall lifetime exposure to physical and social environments that are harmful to the individual (Nickitas, Middaugh & Aries, 2010). Obesity is a risk factor that continually exposes overweight or obese children to cardiovascular diseases and diabetes. Fortunately, health promotion provides a platform that can be utilized to implement health intervention policies to mitigate the risks. The recommendation for preventing obesity is based on health promotion principles; therefore, nurses can use this framework to promote healthy habits that will reduce obesity and its risks (Lazarou & Kouta, 2010).…

Every parent wants the best for their child especially in terms of their learning and it is the teacher’s job to accomplish this and provide this to children. That is what an early childhood day care in Australia wants to achieve and practise. The kinder, Wesley Vale Primary school comes to an attention of lacking in having an interaction with the children individually. The article mentions how the kinder comes to a solution to develop a program of what they call, ‘Project-based learning’. Essay 2: Parenting: The Fine, Fine Line Parenting: when life makes you juggle a million things while raising a mini-me into a decent and successful human being while the child alternates between working with you and doing everything he or she can to be the antithesis of what you say or embody.
