Each week the class had to develop a checklist of 10 items or activities that we would use to evaluate the developmental appropriateness of an environment for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and primary-aged children. An example on how to complete the assignment was provided for us using the infant group. For the first three weeks, five of the things on the list had to be related to the physical set up or management of the environment and five related to physical (gross motor and fine motor) development for the toddler, preschool, and primary-aged children group. For the Spring 2016-2017 semester course, the class had to select an early child care facility to get cleared to complete their hours. Although the majority of the people in the class worked in a child care setting and could easily obtain the hours in one week, the hours had to spread out over a fourteen-week period of time. Although I was already working in a child care facility before I started this course the assignments required made me view how I view, interact, and engage with the children on a daily basis. I found it really interesting to have two children in my class that had special needs that required one of them to be visited at the center by a physical therapist once a week and the other child to be visited by a physical and occupational therapist each week. I found this to be interesting because they had an entirely different way of developing, learning, and response for me to observe. I believe I did well with accomplishing this
