The author claims that the deterioration of South Africa’s education system is based on the decisions made by South Africa’s politicians. The author conveys South African politics pessimistically through a recent, revolutionary change to South Africa’s Education System. South Africa is facing a dramatic decent in regards to the corrupt educational systems, declining conditions of schools and the overall competency of children’s intellectual output(marks). The author states that South Africa is most concerned about its international status and has chosen to dismiss the South African students overall performance. Some of the differences include the financial aspect, the seriousness, level of education, social life and expectations. In regards to the financial aspect; High School fees are a lot more lenient than university fees. University work is much more serious in that it is up to an individual to develop a good work ethic as opposed to high school where work is given to you and explained in detail. University involves more self study as opposed to school where the knowledge is obtained in class and from various tests which lead up to an exam. The level of education received at high school differs dramatically at university level. At University a student focuses on modules that revolve around their specific field of study where as in school various subjects are studied. The similarities include the various educational facilities and teachers\lectures who make up both educational institutions. Various rural areas remain reluctant to educate those who cannot afford an education. Children who are exposed to the harshness of poverty and parents who are unaware of the importance of education highlight the failure of the education system. (How to fix SA's education system, 2012)South Africa can overcome this plight by educating individuals in rural areas as to the purpose of education on a larger scale, although this is a serious matter that hasn’t been approached properly. It is due to the elevating levels of poverty and unacquainted individuals that has consumed the country over the years, ultimately leading to the deterioration of the countries educational output internationally.
