Personal Reflection
I found this project to be tremendously educational as a school counselor in training. I was able to find answers to the questions that I have wanted to know ever since I decided to pursue this line of work and complete this project feeling more confident than when I began it.

However, when I was applying to graduate school I was outright told by some Illinois Board of Education employees to not pursue a degree in school counseling outside of the state if I wish to come back. In the community of my high school, sports like wrestling and football were absolutely critical in my growth as a person and keeping my friends in I away from drugs and street gangs. Coaches are on the road two or three nights of the week, especially basketball coaches.…

Interventions Used in Counseling The very first intervention I used with David was establishing rapport and building on the therapeutic alliance (Beck, 2005). David was my first client with PTSD that was not actively on any mind altering substances at the start of our sessions. In order for our sessions to end well they had to begin well. I actively collaborated with David from the beginning, empathized with him, adapted my therapeutic style so we both would feel comfortable in the room, and to alleviate any distress.…
