Growing up there was one phrase my father often repeated, “Education is key. No one can ever take away your education.” I remember him telling me this throughout my educational career, but now, as I am about to graduate high school it finally makes sense. According to Business Insider, “the unemployment rate for those with less than a high-school diploma is 14.2 percent” and “the unemployment rate for those with a college degree is 4.2 percent” (Weisenthal 1). There appears to be a very real disparity between the educated and the uneducated. Education may not guarantee success in life; however, it is clear to see education plays an important role. Not only does education affect jobs, but many other areas in life. However, with increasing standards for grammar, middle school, high school and college the school systems are ill-prepared to keep up with shortfalls in resources. As a result, multitudes of students are falling behind and not measuring up to growing standards. The education system is unfair because students are being left unequipped to succeed since they do not receive adequate resources to reach educations standards. The political cartoon illustrates the difficult task set before students who have limited access to educational resources required to achieve the high standards of education.
