Throughout history a key element to the advancement of people and the societies in which we live has been education. With knowledge we have been able to develop cities, governments, advancements for a better life through technology, and much more. Not only have we made so many improvements throughout our time here on Earth but we also have some much more to learn and develop. The power of education can never be underestimated and that is clearly evident today. Young people are creating softwares and apps along with new medicines; all which make our world a better place. Through schooling I see the world with a more open mind and understand the importance of education the more educated I become. This leads me into the actual meaning of education. Over my years of existence I have seen that the more education a person or society has acquired the better a life they live. Through education people do not feel the need to fight and have wars. The benefits are clear yet how or when is a person educated? To start, education must be passed down from generation to generation. Yes, observation and acquiring knowledge over time are key but not everything can be taught that way. Schools and universities are in place for a reason. Also, it is very important to establish a strong base of knowledge in your early years. A talented teacher can have benefits on you that last your entire life. Once these different ways of passing knowledge have reached you, you can say you are educated. Although, it never stops. You learn something new everyday and gain more knowledge. Therefore you never fully become educated. That is the beauty of it. So, what does it mean to be educated. Well, the answer is not black or white. It is important to have a sturdy base of general education but it is up to the individual after that point to become more educated.
