The student will employ methods for pre-reading schema activation, guided silent reading, and post-reading schema building. MoSPE 1 I am able to employ methods for pre-reading schema activation, guided silent reading, and post reading schema building because of the activities I learned to perform and the ideas I read about that can help me in the future. Post reading schema building can be employed by having the students perform a model comprehension strategy. This would determine if the child comprehended the text or not. I believe vocabulary and concept development are extremely important to have within every classroom. As an elementary school teacher, vocabulary will be discussed and referred back to multiple times throughout the day. Concept development can be taught in multiple ways such as, learning and practicing meanings of words, punctuation, and the common subject areas. This is vital in every classroom, if a child does not understand the concept of a word, sentence, or situation they will never understand why it is useful.
The student will identify principles and methods for meeting the needs of all students in the content area classrooms. MoSPE 1
This is important because there is a wide range of variety and diversity throughout every school. This variety and diversity includes different races, religions, learning styles, economical status’, cultures, behavior types, etc. Each of these factors are important to keep in mind while you construct a lesson for your classroom. Each of these differences can be met by widening your lessons and discussing these differences rather than ignoring them. Students’ are top priority as a teacher, so recognizing their needs and assisting them in any way possible is necessary.
The student will demonstrate knowledge of instructional frameworks for reading and writing-based instruction. MoSPE
