In the captivating novel of The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas, Edmond Dantes has dramatically changed over the course of the novel from a young sailor to a rich and powerful count. With many events leading up to this transformation Edmond learns that revenge does not always result in happiness the way it is planned. When putting trust into someone the outcome is always different. For example the reason Edmond gets put into prison is because Dantes but trust in the wrong people such as Fernand and Danglars. Throughout the novel Edmond faces varies obstacles that have made him stronger and wiser.
