Edith Stein once said “When you seek truth, you seek God whether you know it or not”. This quote is extremely fitting to Stein as she was a devout Christian who would always search for the truth. Edith was born October 12 1891 in Breslau, Germany modern day Wrocław, Poland. Edith Stein and her 10 siblings were born into the Jewish faith and were raised following Jewish traditions. Stein was exceedingly intelligent she received her doctorate in philosophy from the University of Freiburg with the honor of Suma Cum Laude.
When Stein was only the young of two her father passed away. Her mother had to raise the family by herself and take care of the family timber business. Perhaps her mother always working is part of the reason at the age of fourteen
