Edgar Richard Huff III, my former Psychology and current Civics and Economics teacher, exhibits the most appealing qualities of leadership; dedication, perseverance, patience, and respect for others. His sheer enthusiasm for his students to succeed is beyond the ordinary teacher, as he encourages his students to always go an extra mile. Mr. Huff never fails to hint slight humor in class, which makes the learning experience entertaining, yet worthwhile. More importantly, he does all this with great happiness, passion, and the desire for his students to reach their fullest potential.

Huff is both a teacher and a friend at school; he speaks to everyone with confidence and always has a good ear for opinions and thoughts. Whenever there are challenges in the classroom, such as an argument, he always ensures that the issue is addressed fairly without it escalating. One particular example was when we there was an argument between two students on how school was “easy” for one student because he was born with intelligence and the other was not. However, Mr. Huff took the time to explain to everyone what role they play in the diverse group, and that everyone is important for a productive and engaging classroom. Not only is Mr. Huff recognizing the student’s ability to be understanding of each other’s differences, but also motivates others to be proud of who they are. As a leader, Mr. Huff accomplished his goal to work for not just one individual, but for the whole team. I hope to emulate his leadership traits of open-mindedness and respecting others opinion, which has proven to effectively lead students and develop a friendly relationship between one
