Edgar Allen Poe was a very mysterious and dark writer of poetry. Two of Poe’s literary works; “A Tell Tale Heart” and “A Cask of Amontillado”, may seem as tho they are very similar in their writing but they actually have many different aspects. Poe’s writing in both of the stories is very mysterious and dark. In both stories Poe writes about killing people and has insane ways of doing just that. In “A Tell Tale Heart” the main character has a problem with the old man’s eye. He decided to take the man’s life. The main character chopped up the man’s body and hid him under the floorboard. The story goes on and the main character couldn’t take the guilt of being a murder and started having hallucinations of the heart of the dead old man beating. The main character began to become crazy and turned himself in to the police. In a “Cask of the Amontillado” the narrator, Montresor, hated Fortunato so much that he wanted to get revenged. Montresor meets Fortunato at a carnival while he is drunk. Montresor began to explain to Fortunato that he has Amontillado in his cellar if he will follow him there. Fortunato begins to follow Montresor in what he thinks is his cellar but it really is a catacomb. While Fortunato follows Montresor through the catacomb, Montresor continues to get him more drunk. Montresor leads Fortunato into a a human size and starts to bury him alive. “A Cask of Amontillado” and “A Tell Tale Heart” have many aspects that their plots are similar. In both stories…
