Reading English literature from the past helps us understand the world and how it used to be. It helps students in many ways. It builds many necessary elements that builds a student’s writing skills, and help them discern hidden themes and messages that the book is trying to give out. Which is necessary for the future and job opportunities. There are many advantages to reading literature. It helps us build critical thinking skills. This shows that Fortunato had an idea what he was risking. He also states that from the many injuries Fortunato had given him he had taken it as best as he could, but he can’t handle the disrespect he had been given. Which makes revenge the driving plot in this short story. Montresor then plans how he is going to kill Fortunato. Another quote from this book is “Nemo me impune lacessit.” (Poe Line 49). When translated by Dictionary.com it says; no one attacks me with impunity. Which is the motto of Scotland. He says this because he’s stating no one can mess without consequences. He uses Fortunato by making a point with him. He is finally fed up with Fortunato’s treatment, so he decides to do something about
