Edgar Allan Poe’s life was one of many sorrows and difficulties, filled with deaths of close family and many broken loves. These things, played a big role in his gothic writing which led Poe to become one of the, greatest authors of his time. Poe is called “the father of horror and mystery. Suffering, abandonment, and mystery are all themes portrayed in Edgar Allan Poe’s writings. Edgar Allan Poe skillfully wrought tales and poems convey with passionate intensity the mysterious dreamlike and often macabre forces that pervaded his sensibility. Mostly all of Poe’s poem were based on his life. Poems telling the dark and horrific background that he had. Just at a young age Poe experience traumatic death in his life when his parents died. Some say that Poe’s poems were to dark and horrific and that is what made readers so inserted in looking at Poe’s work. Through the life of Edgar Allan Poe after parent’s death he was put into a family he wasn’t put with any relatives. For all of his problems, in the course of his relatively short life Poe revitalized American literature, producing perfectly crafted stories and poems while creating whole new genres.
