The story “The Oval Portrait” is an about an innocent, beautiful young woman who dies a horrible death and yet, very strange death. There are many other works like “The Oval Portrait”, like Annabel Lee, and The Fall House of Usher. These stories have a connection to Poe’s mother, his Foster mother, and his wife who all died of Tuberculosis. Poe has also written a story about a disease resembling tuberculosis, The story is called “The Masque of the Red Death” it is a disease called the Red Death which spreads like wildfire.
