Today, I had lunch with Edgar Allan Poe, the author I have been admired since I read his short stories. I am extremely honored to be chosen as the representative of MA along with Poe. Before going to lunch with Poe at Joy Luck Palace, I went to see my old high school teacher, Mr. Zhao, who came to visit. I was very fortunate to get in touch with him, and excited to meet him for the first time after I left high school decades ago. Mr. Zhao is turning 80 next year, and his health is in a good shape, except he has been coughing for days since he arrived. He asked me to get him some cough drops for he could not find any in New York City. (cite: Ha Jin’s an english teacher, then explain.) I stopped at Ten Ren Tea House to get Poe a box of Oolong
