Poe was an poet and author from the United States, he wrote short stories, poetry, a novel, a textbook, a book of scientific theory, and hundreds of essays and book reviews. Poe is acknowledged for being the inventor of the modern day detective story. Many of Poe’s stories have bizarre characteristics. Poe was a pretty strange character himself. He shows this in many of his stories and poems such as “Annabel Lee” and “The Tell-Tall Heart. Poe is seen as a morbid author; many of his books don’t end with a happy ending. Furthermore, some lies have been spread about Poe by one of his enemies in a biography (“Poe’s Life.”).
Poe was born on January 19th, 1809. His mother and father were both traveling actors. He was born in Boston, and he was the second son of three children. His brother William Henry Leonard Poe also became a poet before he passed away early on in his life. Poe’s sister Rosalie grew up to teach penmanship at a girls’ school in Richmond. Sadly, Poe’s parents would both pass away by the time he was three. He was then taken in by the wealthy tobacco merchant John Allan and his wife Frances in Richmond, Virginia.…
