Eden Monologue

Decent Essays
You created me a Garden of Eden
And with your words you did sweeten
Nature and everything she had to offer
But failed to realize that we would suffer

You beautiful meadow will soon be filled with snow
And your roses and posies will fail to grow
In the trees there will be ravens instead of doves
So I can't be with you and be your love

Winter will bring the cold
And the end of your utopian world
So there's nothing that will make me want to move
So I can't be with you and be your love

With amber, silver, and gold you offer me jewelry
But I know that that is just foolery
And soon you'll realize this is something you'll grow out of
So I can't be with you and be your love

“Well, I hit on Andover as the first town because it seemed like a quiet and likely spot where an old, frail little lady who owned a shop would be killed. I found Mrs. Ascher when I was in that town for personal business about a few months ago, and I had noticed that she was often in her little shop alone. For letter B, I had to use slightly different tactics. By now, lonely women in shops would have been warned about a killer on the loose, so I had to change the characteristics of my next victim. I often visited tea shops and cafes, where I began to notice girls with names who began with the right letter.…

I definitely was not prepared for black widows. Black widows were only something I had heard about through TV. Cadence awoke. An immense pressure bore on her confused mind, feeling like a lost soul in the depths of hell. When I think about the old world, only in distant memories and muted daydreams, I mostly think about color. The urban world was dashed in eye-catching colors and neon lights. Nature was slightly more subdued; somewhat monochromatic, yet varied in understated tones of grey, brown, and green. Color is hard to come by, now, with the exception of flame and blood. Rampant fires and firestorms consumed forests and cities long ago, and everyday continue to demolish what was once taken for granted.…

Let me start at the beginning. As I alluded to earlier, I’ve come to understand part of the reason we stayed together for so long was due to my intense need for validation, to love myself through investing in and loving external sources. For the majority of my life, I was told to find identity and peace through God. I’m certain I told you how much I struggled with this. You came along at the exact time period I started doubting religion, and so you filled the void religion had left.…
