EDCI 509 Assignment #2 Development of Data Collection Instruments
Introduction
Data driven instruction is now getting more attention due to accountability issues that schools are facing. For my action research project, I will investigate the effects of using data to guide instructions and improve student learning. My primary action research questions are as follows:
• What are the effects of using data driven instruction and goal setting to improve student learning and test scores in science?
a) How can the benchmark test results be used effectively to guide teacher lead instruction and change instructional practice in science?
b) What are the effects of informing students of their strengths and weakness (as indicate on performance data), and how does this impact student engagement in the learning process and on benchmark test results in science?

Unfortunately, I can compare these scores with April 2016 scores until the end of October 2016. However, the purpose of analyzing the Georgia Milestones End of Course test is to gather quantitative data regarding students’ percentile gains. I will analyze this data by looking at students’ percentile from April 2015 test and compared to their percentile from April 2016 test. The second step is I will examine the data regarding the nature of science and Georgia Performance Standards and what each of my student needs. I will gear my instruction to the types of learning that the data indicated the student needs. Teachers need to make informed decisions about what is taught and how it should be taught and have data available to them. My goal is to use the valuable data to inform the student’s level of academic achievement. It is critical to share this data with students and posted the data on charts around my classroom so that students could use the data as much as
