The Type designer I decided to discuss goes by the name Ed Benguiat. He was born on October 27 1927. His contribution to typography came in the shape of over 600 typefaces such as Tiffany, Bookman, Panache, Edwardian Script, Benguiat, and Benguiat Gothic.
At one point a jazz drummer Ed grew up in Brooklyn New York playing in mostly big band arrangements. He would always claim that he was foremost a musician. Benguiat also did work for magazines such as Esquire, Sports Illustrated, Playboy, Reader’s Digest, and The San Diego Tribune. After all of his work and contributions Ed was inducted in the Art Directors Club Hall of Fame. He also won many other awards for his logotype work.
