Old economic solutions failed to resolve it; the normal patterns of capitalism and the buisness and economic history, not a break with history.”(Bondi, Victor pg 97) The economy took an obvious hit during the Great Depression and large masses of people were laid off at a time or that the least had their salary cut in half. Job hunting became virtually impossible because there was no money to pay the people who already had jobs. Often men would spend all morning looking for any kind of work that could be found. Most came up with no luck, and would spend the rest of their day loitering too humiliated
