Also the definition of national security can be correlated with sustainability as principle that creates and maintains conditions under which humans and nature can exist in productive harmony, that permit fulfilling the social, economic and other requirements of present and future generations. Sustainability is important to making sure that we have and will continue to have, the water, materials, and resources to protect human health and our environment. One major threat to the national security of South Korea is air pollution. Due the size of the country and the increase of pollution being caused by rapid growth of industrial production in the country is now facing dangerous risks that will not benefit anyone. Air pollution is a main problem with national security because it hinders workers and citizens to work efficiently due to constant illness from smog and dangerous air particles. If the air pollution continues, then this can cause a major blow to their economy and are alliance. That’s why I have come to understand now that national security has to involve a partnership between the two countries in order to form these countries a new direction in Environmental Security. The current EPA approved methods involve long extraction procedures, including large amounts of chlorinated solvents. Current efforts are directed toward fabrication of a fast, reliable and inexpensive toxin detection device. I am currently analyzing chlorinated toxins in coastal samples using portable Raman Spectroscopy method. Since Korea is a peninsula they also are surrounded by water which is being contaminated by these toxins because it comes from polluted runoff from industries to households. While doing that I also can be a representative for U.S. EPA if I chose to move to South Korea and help with communication between the two countries on environmental issues. I already have the experience with communication by working on the committee that was developing the Energy, Water Food Nexus Summit 2015 for my school. I was able to network with other universities and green companies around the country. My goal was to help these people connect and have a huge discussion of different environmental problems the country is facing. I prepared presentations and discuss efficiently with the visitors when the summit begins. As well as, preparing social media retrospect to branch out to local college students not only from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University but also Florida State University. With those experiences I also would have the experience with the country’s culture and mannerisms
