a. Which parts of this quote are positive statements? Which parts are normative statements?

Positive statements are a statement that is true and can be proven. In the statement above a true statement would be “Workers in Asia often work in sweatshop conditions earning only pennies an hour” that is because this statement can be proven that that Asian workers do not make a lot of money in poor conditions in sweatshops.

“American workers are more productive and as a result earn higher wages. In order to preserve the dignity of the American workplace, the government should enact legislation banning imports of low - wage Asian clothing” This statement is judgmental from the writer and using this to peruse the reader into their personal thoughts. This is why this is a normative statement.
