Eco Logical Australia Case Study

As seen in Figure 8 above, Eco Logical Australia recommends the placement of 20 road signs in areas deemed to be high risk. These areas were chosen by analysing the green lines which indicate a high risk road. The overall cost of a sign includes production, installation, and maintenance. This information was extremely difficult to obtain, therefore an estimate has been created. The base cost for a wildlife warning sign is $175 (Seton, 2017). It is then estimated that installation costs are $120 per sign, and maintenance is $60 per year. Therefore, the total cost of a sign as estimated by Eco Logical Australia is $355 each. The twenty recommended signs will cost approximately $7100. These signs will reduce the total number of KVCs by warning

All of the sampling equipment was decontaminated prior to use in the field and between stations to prevent cross-contamination. The decontamination procedure specified in EPA Region II, CERCLA Quality Assurance Manual from October 1989, Revision 1 (WHG 2009B) was implemented prior to each station for sampling equipment that came into direct contact with the media to be sampled (e.g., sediment sampler, stainless steel bowls, spoons, etc.). The EPA Region II procedures used for decontamination are summarized below (solvents used during decontamination activities were collected and stored for disposal at the laboratory):…

Reading Reaction #1 Brief Summary In his article “The State of the Eco-Union” Joel Salatin describes how the Eco-union began with decentralized passionate farmers who maintain the Eastern mindset of everything being interconnected. The shift from the innovative organic paradigm occurred with what Salatin refers to as “Wall Streetification.” This happened when the original values were lost and farmers made their businesses as efficient as possible while meeting the minimum requirements for being certified organic. He finishes his article with a call to arms for the members of the Eco-union, urging them to combine technology with the natural wisdom of farming to further their movement.…

I grew up in a Caucasian neighborhood, I always knew my neighborhood would get more benefits than the neighborhoods my cousins grew up in (Newark, Camden,etc.). Certain neighbors (majority Caucasian) just have more respect or are treated better than African American or Hispanic neighbors. We see this every day either on the news or when we are driving or walking down the street. People of color are not treated the same which is a sad thing to say but it's true. As human beings created by God, we all should be one and care for each other.…

The sign above that is addressed to hunters is very misleading. Without proper punctuation, the sign makes it seem as if the hunters are hunting pedestrians that walk on the trails. The sign should say, “Hunters, please use caution when hunting. Pedestrians using walk trails.” A period would serve best to clarify the sign’s message that hunters should be careful because there are pedestrians nearby.…

Writing Ecologies is to examine and explore the relationship between technology, human expression and culture, whilst considering how these technologies shape and inform the ways is which an individual reads, writes and communicates. Writing Ecologies is ultimately built on a biological and media ecological approach and is adequately the study of communication technologies as cultural environment. Writing itself is increasingly responsible to progressively shift and change, which is effectively and visibly responsive to the environment in which it exists. The way in which we write has continued to reconstitute the media environment forcefully dominating and leading to new levels of interactivity and feedback between both readers and writers.…

The article “ Mental Environmentalism” by Micah White highlights the key idea that pollution negatively impacts the earthly environment, similarly, advertising companies and constant media messaging negatively affects the mental health of the population. The author brings up the idea that commercial propaganda is largely affecting the collapsing environment because advertisements pollute our minds and create a distraction from the collapsing world around us. However, instead of trying to individually solve these problems mental environmentalists are targeting the core agent which is the advertising industry which fuels consumerism and inevitably affects our mental environment. In order to support this thesis White elaborates on topics such…

The Stain of Sustainability Sustainability is discussed in “Attention Whole Food Shoppers” by Robert Paarlberg and “Sustainability by Christian R Weisser. Christian R Weisser speaks more about the idea of what sustainability is and how is important for society to be aware of it. Robert Paarlberg explains in his article the way the Earth is more and less sustainable because of everyone 's actions around the world. Both articles touch on the ideas that there are people out there helping change Earth for the better, and want to make earth sustainable for the future. The authors both explain how there are also harmful situations happening that hardly balance out the help from others trying to make a difference.…

Climate change has been a long-term global issue that requires collective global action in the form of flexible yet stable policy implementation by the global actors. As a global actor, Australia’s approach and commitments to action on climate change, has been considered as inconsistent and lacking in direction (Talberg, Hui & Loynes, 2013). Nevertheless Australia’s climate reputation has not always been a negative one, in the early 1990’s Australia’s reputation was even seen as pro-environmental when the labor government “appointed an Ambassador for the environment, sent experts to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), passed the Ozone Protection Act 1989 and committed Australia to stabilise greenhouse gas emissions at 1988…

Ecological design is a major part of our coming future and is necessary for the prosperity of our species as caretakers for the world. Sim Van Der Ryn and Stuart Cowan, in their book Ecological Design, address five principles in design that will help to move society in the right direction. These principles are: solutions from your place, ecological accounting, designing with nature, everyone is a designer, and making nature visible. It has been over the course of the last century that building designers and engineers have neglected the entirety of environmental impacts that went into their buildings. They have built, I believe, from a strictly human perspective with regard only to what the majority wants.…
