Echosmith Concert Analysis

Concerts… They can either be a great memory or a complete was of money. In my case with the Echosmith concert was a great memory. Echosmith is an American indie pop band formed 2009. “‘Echosmith’ was inspired by the idea of a blacksmith making metal and a locksmith making keys. They call themselves Echosmith because they shape sound”("Meet The Four Siblings Of You Oughta Know Band Echosmith." VH1. 21 Oct. 2014. Web. 6 Oct. 2015.). The concert was on Friday September 25, 2015 at Prochnow Auditorium. It was full of great music with great people and that made this night one for the books. The concert’s venue, the music, the other music goers, and the affordability are all key components that helped make this concert an overall great experience. …show more content…
The Echosmith concert didn’t draw a huge crowd of people to come, so the venue was appropriately chosen to accommodate the smaller crowd. Also having the venue be on campus is very convenient for all the students who attended. While the venue was moderately sized, the amount of people inside the auditorium made it very hot inside. There was no air conditioning to accommodate the high amount of jumping kids. Another problem with this venue was that there were no concessions available for purchase. I understand that there is a policy in some auditoriums for no foods or drinks, yet that doesn’t usually apply to water. I feel as though if there either air conditioning or concessions it wouldn’t have been a problem, but as the venue didn’t have either it was a bit of a downer. Earlier this year NAU held the 3OH3 concert and it was held outside on the South Fields. Having the Echosmith concert held inside while the 3OH3 concert was held outside, gave me two different experiences to think about. While I enjoyed having more room to move around in and not getting as hot as I did inside, I definitely felt the atmosphere at the Prochnow was much more

For my concert critique, I went to Jason Terry’s Doctoral Piano Recital on Tuesday, December 1st at the School of Music in room 206. Because Terry was able to pick the pieces he played, he picked a range of different pieces to emphasize his wide range of talent. He included older and modern pieces including Bach, Godowsky, Balakirev, Zorn, and Liszt. The first piece he played was “Prelude & Fugue, BWV 872” composed by Bach. I was a little unsure about the nature and form of this piece because it was unlike some of the more structured pieces we listen to in class.…

The concert that I attended was the Redlands Community Orchestra at Redlands High School Clock Auditorium. The orchestra consisted of three pieces which were Fanfare to the Common Man by Aaron Copland, Les Preludes by Franz Liszt, and Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, Op. 67 by Ludwig van Beethoven. These pieces are capturing pieces of art and history that surpass time and yet are still know in this modern era. The composers were well known artist that created a kind of movement in music history and became well known for their incredible pieces and symphony’s.…

As stated before the concert was not what I was expecting. I enjoyed it more than I believed I would, it certainly isn’t my new favorite type of music, but understanding aspects of it gave me a greater appreciation for the music and the musicians. Things such as a recognizable basso ostinato set by the base player were a familiar starting point. When the soloists needed an accompaniment the bassist varied the continuous rhythm to compliment what the soloist was playing, otherwise, the beat was…

During the showcase, it felt as though I was part of a movie. The lights were dimed very low and gave off an enchanting, calming vibe. Many of the other people who attended the showcase sat towards the front and were seated around round tables. The concert was very crowded. In fact, so many more people attended that the staff had not prepared enough tables and chairs.…

Being involved with the music department isn’t just for music majors or minors. There are many opportunities for the campus community to take part in the benefits of music through lessons, ensembles and performances. For those that enjoy music but do not sing or play an instrument themselves, Luke Carlson, assistant professor of music, said there are a variety of concerts and performances every semester they can attend. “Some of the audience members we get are family members,” Carlson said, “but we also have students, faculty members, and outside visiting people. You never know who's going to come to a concert, so it's just the sort of wonderful experience where we are all sharing music.”…

The emotions expressed by not only the music but by how the musicians looked while playing these pieces made me believe that this show meant a lot to them because they would sway to the music when they weren’t playing. It had my emotions spiral out of control because some of the music was happy then it turned sad in an instance, then it would go right back to something whimsical. It’s not the typical kind of music that I would listen to daily but I am happy that I got to attend this event and hear something that I wouldn’t normally.…

The combination of this phenomenal band, the massiveness of the stadium, and the sense of community in the audience was definitely an unforgettable experience. The stadium is important because it allows us to connect with people whether it’s a concert event or sports event. As we were parking, I could see people waiting in line, not minding how the scorching sun was burning their skin. All we cared about was that we had to be there as soon as the gates opened.…
