1. During my summers working as a camp counselor in 2006-2009, many events took place during these years. However, just within the USA and just within these summers I was able to narrow down the events that took place In the summer of 2006, the Louisiana Superdome reopened. This was a big deal since so many repairs had to be mad after the damages made by hurricane Katrina. In my research I learned that re-roofing this building was the largest roofing project in US history. It took thirteen months. In the summer of 2007, a terrorist plot was uncovered at JFK International airport. It was plan was foiled after four terrorists were arrested. In the summer of 2008, the Beijing Summer Olympics took place. Here is where Michael Phelps won his 8th …show more content…
In 2014, Obamacare started helping out 7.3 million people. It was the largest increase of social welfare in a very long time. The first case of Ebola was documented in the United States. It is said that it came to this country from Liberia and West Africa. The illness affected more than 22,000 people and killed about 9,000 of them. Lastly, republicans took over a majority of the Senate, which caused a lot of difficulty to the Obama Administration. In 2015, a lot of violence took place. In the beginning of the year, riots took place over the situation regarding Freddie Gray. This took place shortly after the incident in Ferguson, Missouri. The shootings in San, Bernardino took place as well. This was also organized my Islamic terrorists. Shortly following this, Islamic terrorist also attacked Paris. Other non-violent things took pace in 2015; such as Donald Trump started running for president and Pope Francis made his first visit to the United States. I tried very hard to think about ways in which the history can relate to my jobs at the time, but I found it very hard to find the relationships between them. At the end of my research, I ended it on learning that NASA’s mission (New Horizons) finally reached Pluto, which is what it was set out to do . This was interesting to me and I actually did some more in depth research on this. When doing so I discovered that this mission was actually launched in 2006, and has taken 9 years for this device to make it’s way though outer space. This made me chuckle because in 2006 is when I first entered the working world. I feel this this event symbolizes my growth in my career. Just like the name of the mission, New Horizons, I too was just starting and learning about the possibilities out there for me. At this time I was not quite sure what I wanted to be, just like NASA was not sure what it was going to find. However, as time went I I discovered what my passion was and in 2015, decided to really pursue it. I have finally reached the end in deciding what I want to be at the same time that the New Horizons device reached its final

Three things I have learned about this year is the stock market crash, WW1, and USS Maine. All of these things had a big role in forming our country into what we have today.
