A deviant organization cannot be modified unless the head of the organization is intense to change (Belson, 2005). Ebber’s unethical leadership behaviors change the organization and finally define the organizational culture. His lack of value and ethics has become the norms of WorldCom through various organizational levels. Ebbers could have used his influence over the senior management and the organization at large by connecting through a positive behavior and ethics that were going to be positively influencing his subordinate. Ethical leadership at the top “trickles down” and affects behavior at lower levels (Mayer et al., 2009). A leader can become a norm for entire organization by living by the higher standards. The organizational standards should be equal for everyone. When someone misses to following through they should be held accountable regardless of their position in the organization.
