Eating Persuasive Essay

How would you feel about eating something that has been crammed into small dirty cages and forced to stand in its’ own feces? Cows, chickens, pigs, and sheep are forced to withstand harsher conditions, injections of growth supplements (drugs), and smaller living spaces. The results of these conditions lead to mutations, deformities, and diseases (Salmonella and E. Coli) infestations among the livestock kept in captivity. I don't know about you guys, but that does not sound appetizing nor healthy for us to be eating. I believe that the way we are treating the animals we eat is unethical and unhealthy for both the animal and the people who are consuming them. The close confinement of animals held in factory farms does present a breeding ground for viruses and contagious diseases. In addition to this, the animals are fed substances that are far from what their bodies are naturally used to consuming. The animals are treated cruelly and as lesser beings. Conditions in the slaughterhouses and factories cause diseases among the imprisoned animals, often getting treatment for the animals does not happen due to “high cost”.
