The first stage of sleep is light sleep. This stage happens right after a person starts to fall asleep. Eyes begin to move slower and muscles begin to become less active. We go through ‘Alpha and Theta’ which is a stage of dreaminess sort of like day dreaming. Daydreaming is something that most people think of as something that happens during the day, but that normally will only happen if the person is depriving their brain of sleep. In this stage, it is unlikely that a person will have weird sensations or feelings that they are falling off of something.
