Eating disorder are very serious, it affects many teens over the past years. A person with an eating disorder tend to have a series of signs and symptoms; anorexia, bulimia and binging. Anorexia also known as “Anorexia Nervosa” or self-starvation, this type of disorder is extremely common in teens; women and men. This type of disorder causes people to be more concerned in what they are eating and how much of it. Anorexia in people tend to change the way you look; for example, thinning of the bones, brittle hair and nails, low blood sugar, body temperature is lowered whereas the person constantly feel cold. Your weight gain begins to become an obsession whereas the person works out constantly. Anorexia may also lead to death or other medical complications. Bulimia, is another eating disorder that is followed by binge eating and possibly purging. Teens struggling with bulimia have a constant battle between losing weight and or to stay extremely thin. When binging is present many teens tend to work out excessively after eating uncontrollably. Bulimia also changes the way you look outside and also internally. Purging tends to give you swollen glands and inflamed throat. Also the acid to the vomiting tend to wear out your tooth enamel and dehydration. People with eating disorders may also have other mental illnesses such as: depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), personality or substance abuse.
