Karla is currently employed at the Carolina Center for ABA and Autism. She has been working there full time as a behavioral technician for autism for nine months. To obtain this position she had to take classes and get certification to obtain this position. She describes that she enjoys her job because she loves working with children and helping them.
Karla grew up in a Baptist church. She classifies herself as a Christian, and a part of the Baptist domination. Karla describes her faith to be strong as she prays daily. She puts in effort to attend church weekly but “life gets busy.”
Karla is a healthy as she has never had any health concerns, history of disease or disabilities. She does describe that she does have anxiety every now and then but it does not affect her daily functioning. The anxiety she has, contributes to her nail-biting problem she describes. She further explained that she does experience anxiety, worry, and symptoms of depression from time to time. Though she feels this way it does not alter her everyday functioning to the point she is not participating in daily activities, so she has not felt the needs to receive psychological services. Karla explained that certain things have happened in her life to worsen these symptoms such as her relationship ending and her grandmother’s stroke.
