Eating disorder has been a major problem among Americans these days. It has been a common issue in almost every household. Eating disorder is a mental illness in which people tend to eat either excessively or eat very little. Eating disorder has the highest mortality rate of any mental illness. Almost 24 million people suffer from this disease in America.
Eating disorder is evident by the picture brought forth by the facial expressions, item and setting. Eating Disorders have existed since a very long time. Anorexia Nervosa And Bulimia Nervosa have been existing since the first century. Anorexia Nervosa was first diagnosed as a medical condition in England in the 1680s. Previously anorexia and bulimia were thought to be physical diseases occurring due to mental conditions. Some doctors considered it as endocrine imbalance as well. During the 1980s-1990s, girls in America were preferred to be skinny. Girls who were not skinny were considered as inappropriate for the society. To please the society, girls began to lose weight and became highly obsessed with what they ate.They began to skip meals and exercised too much that they started to develop eating disorders. Two eating disorders became very popular in that time. First, Anorexia Nervosa, in which people tend to skip meals or eat very less to reduce weight. The second was Bulimia Nervosa, in which people binge a lot but then after that they purge or exercise so much so that they do not gain weight. Rate of…
