Chocolate has become an incredibly popular food product around the world, so people are able to find various kinds of chocolate in the vicinity nowadays. People might think of chocolate as just one of the snacks, and it could be the one that parents do not want to give too much to their children because they think chocolate is bad for health. Many of people also consider that chocolate is not a healthy food because it is often known as one of the junk foods, which usually contain too much sugar and fat, but there are also positive effects of eating chocolate. There are negative effects of chocolate consumption as many people expect, and one is chocolate leads weight gain and heart disease. Chocolate bar contains saturated fat and sugar, which elevates blood cholesterol that puts at risk for heart disease and stroke. Moreover, the sugar in the chocolate bar does not have any nutritional value, so it will not give any beneficial effects for health. Since chocolate has a high calorie count, containing large amounts of sugar compared to the small size of chocolate, it would possible to gain weight if people do not set a limit on the chocolate consumption and keep eating it unconsciously. There are various chocolate products around the world, and one of the popular chocolate is dark chocolate that has a high cocoa content. Dark chocolate often contains some sugar, but the amounts are usually small and the darker the chocolate, the less sugar it will contain. Dark chocolate also contains a small amount of fiber, which would be a quite nutritious food, unlike the knowledges about chocolate that many people mostly have. Moreover, dark chocolate may improve the function of the brain. Cocoa helps improving blood flow to the brain, so it also improves cognitive function in elderly people with mental impairment.
