Thanksgiving is a time of reflection upon good memories created throughout the year. It is also a time to cherish and spend with friends and family.

However, there are some who just don’t want to celebrate it. Thanksgiving is suppose to be like every other holiday–very happy and fun. However, we can always have that one holiday where we all wish not to celebrate. That is when tragedy comes in.

In the autumn of 1993, The O’Sullivan family were going to have Thanksgiving in a camp filled with cabins and picnic tables along with a lake the family can look at or even swim in. It was the perfect place to spend time with each other… but one night changed everything. My grandfather and a buddy of his were riding four-wheel motorcycles. My mother

This was a day I’ll never forget, for this day while complaining about my family reunion to a coworker, named Terri, I was taught a valuable lesson about family when she invited me to attend her family reunion next June at the Corsicana State School. “You think your family is dysfunctional, come and meet mine” this exuberant woman exclaimed. This is her story. “There I was, this red-haired freckle faced scrawny kid aboard the Orphan train headed to the unknown”. One of ten children aboard that old, dusty, smelly black train car headed to Corsicana State Home.…

My Thanksgiving Experience Thanksgiving is a holiday of turkey and thanks that we celebrate every year in November, a month before Christmas. Besides being thankful and eating a lot of delicious food that makes you resemble the stuffed turkey on the table, it is about spending time with loved ones and enjoying the irreplaceable moments we have at hand. Now, with every Thanksgiving, there is always a story to tell; some more interesting than others, but all a part of whom we are.…

One ritual my family experiences is having an early Thanksgiving dinner and watching the Dallas Cowboys game. The tradition starts late on the night before thanksgiving. We start by ordering pizza, and then we begin prepping dinner for Thanksgiving Day. My sister and I prepare the side dishes, while my mother, aunt and grandmother make all the main dishes and desserts. We usually stay up all night finishing dinner prep, watching television, and cracking jokes.…

My family is loud, crazy and not afraid to voice their opinions so there is always drama at every dinner or family event. It is Thanksgiving, a day to give thanks for all we have been blessed with, yet all some can seem to do is complain about the family they will have to endure today when some have no family to even think of spending the day with. Or how so and so pissed them off so they are boycotting thanksgiving! Well that's all fine and dandy but think of all the ones who would give everything to have one more holiday with a loved one gone too soon, or Military men and women serving far away and can't be with their families at all, or the military families that live too far away to make a trip home. I know of too many people my age that have lost parents, siblings, children and spouses this year to be ungrateful! I am blessed beyond what I deserve.…

Poor Thanksgiving doesn't even get a full week off, they only receive 5 days, 2 of those which are weekends, so they started out free. 3 days off, 3 days to celebrate a national holiday. Thats not even enough time to go on vacation, unless you want to take off school or work. Which leads to a list of whole other situations with bosses and school principals that I’m not even going to get into. Moral of the story is that when you celebrate Thanksgiving you don’t get to have nearly as much fun or excitement as you do during the holiday…
