The Ocean is one of the most majestic sites to see and to swim in. A lot of people make the misconception about what dangers are in the ocean. Each year there are about fifty to seventy confirmed shark attacks. And five to fifteen shark attack fatalities around the world. Across the Earth shark attacks varies from coast to coast depending on what continent you’re observing from. For instance the North American Continent on the east coast it seems that Horry County, South Carolina, Charleston County, South Carolina, are where shark attacks happen the most. Same as St. Johns County Florida, Volusia County, Florida, Brevard County, Florida, Palm Beach, Florida, and St. Lucie County. The highest reported attack were in South Africa, They had a total of 241 attacks from 1950 to 2014. Out of those attacks, Fifty-four were reported fatal. In Mascarene Islands, they had a total of thirty-seven attacks reported, and out of those attacks eleven of them were fatal. Epypt, had a total of seventeen attacks, out of those three were fatal. The county that had the least reported attacks was Mozambique. It had eleven reported attacks and out of those, three were fatal. 153 total shark attacks, out of these, 153 were reported fatal attacks from 1934 to 2014. Can you guess which continent this is? Australia. The highest reported attacks in Australia was South Wales. Which had a total 182 reported attacks. The second highest country in Australia, was Queens Island. They had a total of seventy-six reported attacks. And the third highest was in South Australia, which had a total of 40 attacks. Most people wander why sharks attack humans. This is what the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration (also known as NOAAA) had to tell us why. The first one is called sneak attack. It happens in deeper water. The shark comes up from the bottom. The victim doesn’t see the shark before the attack happens. The result of this attack can be fatal. Another form is called bumps and bites. This is where the shark circles you in the water, trying to figure out if you are prey, and then they bite. The result can aslo be fatal. The last type is called hit –and-run. This when surfers/swimmers are in the waves and a shark mistakes them as fish. Sharks takes one bite and swims away.
