Early Years Essay

Teaching is about inspiring a child to learn. The early years stage in teaching is vital to start a child’s learning process, it is at this stage where a child needs to be encourage to learn, while giving them the chance to develop their social skills and advance their educational development. It is during the Early Years within schools that you can have the greatest impact on a child’s future ability to learn. Not only do you need to provide them with a foundation of education but as a teacher you also need to make sure education is something they want to continue within in the future. Teaching is such a rewarding experience as you are able to see their development and the progress their make under you teaching and supervision.

Not only do you have to be able to communicate with children ranging in age from 4-13 but also with their parents and understanding if they are any special requirements or needs that need to be met. Hazelwood School Nursery and Early Years further expanded my understanding of what a teacher is expected to provide to children, not only do they need to teach the basic education to a child, they also need to help them develop their social skills with other children and reduce the dependency they have on other, whether this be parents, sibling or care givers.

Although not all my work experience has been directly with children, they have all be in a team environment, whereby team working has been key to the success within my job. A number of the jobs have involved interpersonal skills, organisation, self-discipline and good time management.
