In order to survive you need water and a food source right? At one point the rivers turned brackish. Brackish water is when saltwater and fresh water mix. A person could not survive on this water for a long period of time. Not only that but the colonist came up with an idea to use the restroom in the rivers but it did not work as they planned. It is like these guys were asking for starvation. Settling skills are a good thing to have if you are planning to survive. Can you imagine a life without woman? In document C is shows originally they sent 110 men and 0 woman that seems unreasonable. One more example is, Jamestown had sent a small ship over the trade for grain, but it would not last the colonists all winter. Not only that but the ship crew took quite a bit for the journey home. I have a theory that once the Starving Time began there was little food from the streams due to the filthy water, could this have caused tension in their relationship. Document E supports my theory when it states, “Of 120 men stationed near the falls, the Indians kill, neere half” this was during 1609.(The Starving Time) The Indians were fierce and willing to do what is necessary to survive even if that means taking out the
