The Early Head Start program started out as an intended program for preschoolers. Today it consists of three and four-year-old’s and covers more than eighty percent of the kids helped by the Head Start programs every year. The programs encouraged school preparation of kids from ages birth to five years, who come from low-income families. Head Start was formed to assist expectant mothers, babies, as well as toddlers. The program is offered to the families up until the child becomes of age, which is 3 years old and is prepared to move on into the program. Numerous Head Start and Early Head Start programs are created in child care centers and schools. Some offer home-based services that are assigned to a staff member who can manage weekly
