Dear Senator John McCain,
I have been a teacher in an Early Education environment located in Arizona for the past four years. I have been teaching in Early Education for many years starting in Iowa, two years in Idaho and now in Arizona. I had no formal education beyond High School up until three years ago when I began slowly working towards my Associates degree in Early Education. I have seen how the pay scale for Early Education providers has stayed at or below poverty level for most teachers in 32 states, giving me reason to question my ability to pay for continuing education in an area where good quality teachers are needed.

4524: Child Care Act bill that provide for quality education for our youngest children. This bill provides many support dollars for the programs involving the early education of young children. It mentions a few times increasing the pay of the providers of early educations but it is vague and does not mention how this would be done. I also see in the President’s Budget Plan for 2016 he is asking for more support for programs that provide needed help and education to the families of children under five. It also mentions that providers should have more education, and more accountability. I do not see anything mentioned about increasing the pay of the valuable people who are providing these families and children with care while preparing them to enter the elementary schools with the ability to perform well. I feel that supporting the increased wages of these early educators will help to address the social and academic success of children in early. Other advantages would also be providing the teachers with incentives to further their education and better address the issues of leading these early learners to successful take their first steps in education. Also giving them the ability to provide for their own families at a level more appropriate for their hard work and
