1. As I start this class I hope that I will learn about the way infants and toddlers learn and grow. I want to make a difference in their lives, and be someone who encourages them to reach whatever goals and heights they require and more. I want them to be excited to come to school and succeed. I want to learn how to be a good teacher and mentor to little ones as they flourish into elementary-age students that have a knack and a desire for knowledge. I want to make plans, curriculums, and activities enable for a wonderful learning environment. I want to learn about their evolving academic needs and how to watch for potential issues. There are so many important areas that need attention during a child's early education; I want to be the teacher that aids in opening new doors to their future. …show more content…
When I walk into a place I have never been before or experience something for the first time I feel unsure and wary of the situation. I detest changes, and it takes me a while to warm up to new things. However, it really depends on the issue- if it affects my life in a substantial way, then I usually don't appreciate that change for a long time- if I ever even grow to accept it. If it's something that is relatively trivial in nature, then I will probably grow to accept it with the passage of time. This attitude is often a detriment to me when it comes to spontaneous activities and unplanned work projects. I try to get past this unfortunate feeling of disapproval for new things, but it can often be a challenge to overcome my natural tendency to shy away from it

Philosophy Statement I have chosen to work in this field because I believe that early school years are the most significant in a child’s life as they lay the foundation for future education. True education is one that brings out the person’s potential. Education should encompass the whole child—intellectual, social, emotional and physical aspects of his/her being. Being a preschool teacher involves a true love for the career and working with children. "…

When children grow up the most important time Humanistic Theorist believe is between age 2-6. This is because the child needs to have their needs met up to this time to progress thru the rest of the steps needed. When the baby’s needs are met, they can feel safe as a toddler. In early childhood, children seek acceptance from the same sex. Now the boys tease the girls and the girls talk about the boys as being “gross.”…

However, early childhood professionals must be aware of the complexity involved with the fair assessment of young children’s competencies, especially regarding wellbeing dispositions. Many assessment tools rely on physically observable behaviours, which is problematic when we consider that young children exhibit a range of developmental trajectories dependent on age and context (Barblett & Maloney, 2010). While individual domains and indicators of wellbeing dispositions may vary, there are common defining features of early childhood wellbeing which are also evident within all the learning and development outcomes articulated in the EYLF and VEYLDF: attachment; affect; regulation, resilience; flexibility; confidence; peer relations; and social skills (Marbina et al., 2015).…

From the beginning of time I've been a lover of books. My mom taught me to read before I started Kindergarten so that once I did begin, I'd have a head start and I thank her for that to this day. Literature has always been one of my favorite subjects and I remember poring over books on a daily basis, books that took me through time, the past, the future and some even the present time. When I became an adult and had my own kids, one of the things I did was also teach them to read at an early age.…

Babies do all kinds of things pretty soon after birth, but it can be difficult to know which actions are voluntary and which are involuntary. One of the things that you need to know about early child development in order to better understand your child’s needs is that most of the time she doesn’t know what she is doing! Reflexes Babies take some time to learn about themselves and their place in the world, but a newborn comes well equipped for the early days of survival by having a series of reflexes that help it coordinate eating, sleeping, and other necessary processes at this unwieldy stage. The most common and prominent reflexes include: • Blinking: This reflex will obviously stay with your baby for life – could you imagine if you had…

The general trend of the majority of the public is to set aside healthy behaviors and activities. While an active lifestyle does seem to be prevalent, most people do not actually meet the recommended standard for daily healthy activities. A great deal could be done early in the educational system to ingrain the knowledge required for a person to live healthier and build enthusiasm for being active and maintaining healthy diets. As it stands, very few educational institutions in America support the necessary amount of physical activity and proper dietary options to produce these enthusiastic active individuals. If changes were to be made early on childhood education, there could be a solid impact on sedentary behaviors as well as the health detriments affecting the young population.…

Research Analysis Both developed and developing nations around the world have experienced some degree of unfortunate fetal and early childhood development based upon the food and agriculture associated in that nation. The food, agriculture, and soil in developed and developing countries can cause damaging birth defects upon pregnant women and the physical development of early childhood. This topic can of great conflict, for the keen natural resources needed for the survival of both the mother and her offspring can possibly produce life altering effects on the developing fetus. This is a great epidemic for it affects about 3 out of 100 women in the U.S (cdc.gov/mmwr) and 61 to 70 women every 1000 live births have birth defects (www.ncbi.nlm.nhm.gov).…

Educationalists in training, such as myself, have many different concepts and ideas to focus on and plan for in the future. How would we go about handling a classroom and its students, while satisfying the curriculum and our responsibilities as educators? Good, experienced teachers have the ability to skillfully teach their content area, as well as the ability to relate and communicate with their students. A great way for educators to learn more about their students, and vice versa, and the best way for students to learn about one another, is during the course of different school environments, such as clubs, sports, and other extracurricular academic activities. One thing for students to constantly remember is that the educators of today…
